Biography

A powerful and versatile striker, Santos Urdinaran played multiple offensive roles. He was the right wing in both Paris 1924 and Amsterdam 1928, while in the 1930 FIFA World Cup he was a substitute after playing the first match against Peru. With the national team (20 caps, 2 goals), he also won three Copa America (1923-24, 1926), three Copa Lipton (1924, 1927, 1929), and two Copa Newton (1926-30).

A true kingpin of the Club Nacional de Football Montevideo, Urdinaran remained there for 14 years, collecting 124 goals in 318 matches and winning five national titles with the tricolores (1919-20, 1922-24). Urdinaran also played one season with FC Barcelona, chosen by the Catalan club together with Hèctor Scarone, but with less success.
