Biography

In addition to his 1992 Olympic appearance, Troy Dayak played for the US national team in 1990-91, earning nine caps. Dayak played college soccer (football) at the University of San Francisco, but left after one year to play professionally with the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks of the Western Soccer League (WSL), even though he was only 17-years-old at the time. The team was later renamed the San Jose Hawks and played in the American Professional Soccer League (APSL), and Dayak stayed with them until they folded at the end of the 1993 season.

Dayak then played indoors with the Cleveland Crunch of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL), helping them win the 1993/94 NPSL title. He played one more year indoors with the San Jose Grizzlies of the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL). Dayak then returned outdoors, joining the Major League Soccer (MLS) San Jose Clash/Earthquakes. He played with them and the San Francisco Bay Seals in MLS from 1996-2005 and then retired from competition. He was able to continue to play despite several neck injuries that eventually required fusion surgery in October 1997.

In 2005 Dayak became the Technical Director of the Livermore Youth Soccer League in California. He also opened up his own soccer store and an alfafa farm in the Bay Area, and did television analysis for professional soccer. Earning his coaching license, Dayak managed the California Cougars indoor team from 2005-07.
