Biography

Hetoimokles of Sparta was a four-time wrestling champion at Ancient Olympics, winning in 600, 596, 592, and 588 BCE, after winning boys’ wrestling in 604 BCE. His father, Hipposthenes of Sparta, had won five titles, in 624, 620, 616, 612, and 608 BCE, after winning the boys’ wrestling in 632 BCE. Thus, the family dominated wrestling competitions at Ancient Olympia for 44 years and 12 Olympiads.
