Biography

Melankomas was considered to be the most skillful boxer of ancient Greece. It was written that he was so skilled that he was “as healthy and unmarked as a runner.” One author wrote that he could fight for two days with his arms held out before him, and nobody would see him change position. He was also noted to be extraordinarily handsome, as his face was unmarred by any blows. He died at a relatively young age during a Games held in Napoli, but on his deathbed Melankomas asked his companion how many days were left to compete.
