Biography

Pheidolas won the crown for the horse race (keles) at Olympia in 512 BCE. The horse who won the title was a mare named Aula, owned by Pheidolas. The rider of Aula fell off during the race, but Aula kept running and was so well-trained that she won the race on her own.
