Biography

As an athlete for BBTE, Aranka Himfy achieved success in many sports: beside gymnastics, she was successful in swimming and diving. In 1928 she participated in the Amsterdam Olympics as a member of the Hungarian gymnastics team. The Hungarian women’s team led after the first day but fell back to fourth on the second as a result of the judges’ decisions. In November 1932, the board of directors of the Association of Hungarian Gymnastics Associations (MOTESZ) donated a large bronze medal to the members of the gymnastics team, with five ringed enamels and the engraved inscription “In memory and compensation - 1928”. After the Olympics, she turned to skiing through her husband, Nándor Szeiler, where she won championship titles in both alpine skiing and cross-country skiing. Their daughter Ildikó, is also an Olympic skier.
