Basketball referee Arturo Ramírez officiated at all levels of the sport in his native Mexico as well as at international competitions and tournaments. In 1976 Ramírez was the referee in two matches in the men’s tournament at the Montréal Olympics. Eight years later he then refereed a further two women’s matches at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. In 1998 he co-ordinated the creation of the Copa Oaxaca with the Raza Unida Basketball Club, which was used by talent scouts from universities in the United States to find new players.
