Biography

In 1956 French featherweight boxer André de Souza travelled to Australia to compete at the Melbourne Olympics. After receiving a bye in the first round, De Souza then beat Nontaslip Thayansilp (THA) by decision to advance to the quarter-finals. He then lost to the eventual gold medallist Vladimir Safronov (URS), also by decision, to be eliminated from the competition.
