Biography

Left winger Peter Bucher belonged to the West German handball team that finished sixth after losing the match for fifth place 17-16 against the Soviet Union at the 1972 München Olympics. He won 78 international caps and scored 182 goals.

Domestically, he played with Frisch-Auf! Göppingen from 1961-76 and helped them win two West German Championships, in 1970 and 1972. He then moved to TuS Hofweiher but returned to Göppingen in 1985 for his last season. Bucher later turned to coaching. He died in 2019 after a long and severe illness.
