Biography

Ferenc Cziráki started playing handball in the colors of FÖTE, then in 1934 he moved to Újpest, with whom he won the national championship three times (1936, 1938 and 1949). He had a great influence on the style that later developed, the creation of a new school that characterized his teams so much. He was the fastest Hungarian handball player and competed regularly in the national athletics championship. In 1937, he finished second in decathlon and third in the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays.

Between 1931 and 1942 he played in the Hungarian national team 29 times. With the national team, he finished 4th at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and won a bronze medal at the 1938 World Championships in Berlin as well.

After finishing his career as a player, he worked as a coach and won the championship with the Újpest team three times. From 1954 to 1956, he was the federal captain of the men’s handball team.
