Biography

East German lightweight judoka Sven Loll won the silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, losing the final against French Marc Alexandre with a late koka from kouchi-gari. The previous year, Loll won the bronze medal at the European Championships.

Loli also won former GDR national titles in 1987, 1989, and 1990. After re-unification, he won the title in 1991, and was second in 1992. Loll turned to coaching after his retirement, and became Regional Coach at Lower Saxony for the U17-U20 youth judokas.
