Biography

East German featherweight boxer Rudi Fink became Olympic Champion at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. In the semi-finals he beat Russian Viktor Rybakov by a 4-1 decision, which was the same result as the final against Adolfo Horta from Cuba. Fink won national titles in 1977 and 1979-80 as a featherweight.

In 1993, Fink started a coaching career, but between 1994 and 2003 he had worked as an educator at Cottbus, after having been jobless for a time, although he had studied automobile repair and sports. In 2003 he joined the boxing camp of former world-class boxer and his coach at the 1980 Olympics Manfred Wolke, although Wolke released him in 2008.
