Austrian rower Renate Sigl partnered Maria Leibetseder in the double sculls at the 1976 Montréal Olympics when female rowing was first held at the Olympic Games. The duo placed tenth and last in the B-final. Domestically, Sigl represented WSV Ottensheim.
At the Austrian nationals Sigl won the 1966 and 1967 titles with her mother and non-Olympian Eva Sika. Her son Wolfgang rowed at the Olympics from 1996-2004.
