Biography

East German boxer Andreas Zülow won the gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics in the lightweight class. Four years later at Barcelona, now a light-welterweight, and representing re-unified Germany, he was eliminated in the third round. At the World Championships he won a silver in 1989 and a bronze in 1986. In 1991, he added a silver at the Europeans.

Domestically, Zülow won East German titles in 1984-86 and 1987-89, and also a German title in 1992. Zülow won 273 of 322 amateur bouts. He later owned a boxing gym at Gadebusch, and worked as a boxing coach at BC Traktor Schwerin.
