Santé Marcuzzi began rowing when he was 16-years-old, winning his first French title in the fours in 1950. Marcuzzi won several more titles in the fours before moving to the eights, where he qualified for the 1956 European Championships. At the championships the French crew won silver, finishing second to the team from Czechoslovakia. Despite the good result, the French team underperformed a few months later at the Melbourne Olympics, finishing last in their heat before being eliminated in the repêchage. At the time of the Games, Marcuzzi was 22-years-old and a solider representing the Armed Forces Sports Centre. He continued to compete for a few more years, including winning the French fours and eights titles on the same day in 1958.
