Biography

Rower Helmut Krause finished an unfortunate fourth with the West German quadruple sculls at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. That same year, the boat won the West German national title. In 1977 and 1978, Krause added two more silver medals. Krause later rowed in the senior championships with former East German rower Hans-Ulrich Schmied, for Berliner Rowing Club, in both the coxed eights and double sculls.
