Biography

West German rower Eckhardt Schultz won the gold medal with the eights at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Subsequently, all crew members were awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. The same year, the crew also won the national title. Schultz also won national titles with the eights in 1986 and 1987, when in both years the crew also finished sixth at the World Championships.

By profession, Schultz became chief financial officer of the Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft NRW (Developing Company of North Rhine Westfalia) based in Düsseldorf - the third largest German real estate company with 800 employees and 90,000 apartments.
