Biography

Imre Tóth learned his boxing in the 1960s in Vasas. During a long career of 14 years he won 420 of 455 bouts. Tóth was Hungarian Champion in 1972 and 1976. He competed at the 1971 European Championships in Madrid, winning one bout, but then losing to 1973 European silver medalist Janusz Gortat. During his career Tóth defeated several top European boxers. At the 1972 München Olympics he won his first round bout, but then lost to gold medalist and future professional World Champion Mate Parlov of Yugoslavia.
