Walter Knabenhans

Walter Knabenhans competed alongside Heinrich Scherer in the coxless pairs at the 1960 Roma Olympics, reaching the semi-finals. At the 1958 European Championships in Poland he placed sixth in the same event. On the national level Knabenhans was a four-time Swiss Champion in the coxed eights representing Rowing Club Thalwil.

After his active career Knabenhans became a coach in the youth sector. Knabenhans was a chimney sweeper by profession and owner of a roofing company. He was president of the municipal council of his hometown of Zürich, where he also died at the age of 88.
