Biography

Max Rudolf was a member of the Swiss coxed four from the Grasshopper Club Zürich that won the 1920 gold medal. The same crew had already won the European Championship just before the Antwerpen Olympics. Rudolf won a total of seven European Championship titles, four consecutive titles in the coxed four (1912-21) with no championships held from 1914-19 during World War I, and three in the eights (1912, 1920-21). Only in 1913 was his Swiss boat defeated by the German eights. Rudolf achieved all of his post-war victories rowing alongside his brother Paul.
