Biography

Kathy Keeler rowed at Wesleyan University, graduating in 1978. At Wesleyan she starred on the basketball team and also played hockey (field). She made the 1980 US Olympic team that did not compete and then rowed in the coxed fours at the 1982 and 1983 World Championships, winning a silver medal in 1982. After winning gold in the eights at the 1984 Olympics, Keeler turned to coaching. She was US national lightweight coach at the World Championships in 1989 and 1993-94, then coached the US national heavyweight crews at the 1994 and 1995 Worlds. She later married legendary Harvard crew coach Harry Parker and settled in the Boston area.
