Seth Bauer was a coxswain for the US eight at the 1988 Olympics. He competed twice at the World Championships, coxing the eight to a bronze medal in 1981 and a gold in 1987. Bauer attended Yale University. He later worked as a journalist, in marketing and communications, and was an entrepreneur. He was a founding editor of National Geographic Green Guide, and editor-in-chief of Body+Soul magazine. He also directed editorial strategy for Martha Stewart properties.
