Biography

Rigoberto Fontt was a prominent sports shooter in his native country, with the highlight of his career coming at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne where he finished in 21st in a field of 33 competitors in the 50 metres free pistol event. He also was on the Chilean sports shooting delegation to the 1959 Pan American Games in Chicago. Fontt was later a prominent local figure and mayor of the city of Colina, just north of Santiago, where a secondary school is named in his honor. Outside of sports, he was also an avid hunter and rancher.
