Biography

Aladár Farkas was a versatile sportsman. As a professional and skillful soldier, he was also a good gymnast, fencer, swimmer, cyclist and shooter, at which he competed in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. During World War I, Farkas fought on three different battlefields. After being wounded, he was moved away from the front line. He retired from the Army in 1924, and became a member of the supervisory boards of various companies. His son, Ferenc Farkas, was a famous composer.
