Biography

Edith Gufler won the only 1984 Italian Olympic medal in sport shooting. She was taught to shoot by her mother Waltraud. Edith started her career in 1980, after practicing skiing and swimming as a child, and volleyball and handball at school. She was 17th at the 1982 World Championships and ninth at the European Championships the following year, also winning an Italian title. The Olympic silver medal was her only major international success. Edith Gufler retired from sports at just 26.
