Biography

Claudio Fiorentini was an Italian pistol shooter who competed at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He began his sport shooting career with rifles in 1937 but switched to pistol shooting after World War II. He was Italian free pistol champion in 1951 and from 1953-56. In addition to his Olympic appearance, Fiorentini placed fourth at the 1955 Mediterranean Games in Barcelona. For his shooting achievements he was awarded the Knight’s Cross to the Order of Merit of the Republic (1957), three Crosses of War Merit (1940-45), and received a solemn commendation from the Royal Navy in 1942.
