Biography

Piet Lathouwers was an honorary member of the Royal Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB) after spending a lifetime dedicated to the sport. Lathouwers became a national referee in 1964 before becoming an international referee only four years later. During his career he umpired in 65 international fixtures including matches at the 1976 Montréal and 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. From 1985 to 1994 he served as the chair of the rules committee of the International Hockey Federation (FIH). From 1970 to 1992 Lathouwers held multiple positions at the KNHB, chairing various boards and technical committees. His brother Guust and his nephew Rob were also hockey umpires.
