Biography

Victoriano Sánchez was a Spanish football referee who officiated in domestic and international matches. Sánchez made his début as a referee in the Spanish First Division in the 1976/77 season. He went on to officiate in 149 top flight matches as well as three Copa del Rey finals. He became an international referee in 1978 with his first major tournament being the 1982 FIFA World Cup where he was a linesman. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics Sánchez was the referee for the group match between Brazil and Morocco. Two years later he refereed the Group A match between Argentina and South Korea at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. From 1993 to 2018 Sánchez served as the President of the Technical Committee of Referees in Spain.
