Biography

Volleyball player Ute Hankers was a member of the West German women’s team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics that finished sixth after losing the match for fifth place against Korea. Hankers won 216 international caps and participated in two European and one World Championships.

Hankers played with VfL Bad Iburg (until 1980), TuRa Melle (1980-82), VfL Oythe (1982-84), CJD Feuerbach (1984-89, German Champion 1989, German Cup Winner 1987-89) and UVC Wüstenrot Salzburg in Austria (1989-90). Hankers later married Hans Wolf Freiherr von Schleinitz and their children became skeleton runners (Kilian) and lugers (Julian and Carolin).
