Biography

Hans-Ulrich Graßhoff was a West German volleyball player who competed at the 1972 München home Olympics. The team lost all their preliminary matches against Brazil, Romania, Cuba, East Germany and Japan, but did win their 11th place match against Tunisia. He was an avid track and field athlete (high jumper and pole vaulter), football and basketball player, as well as a volleyball player.

In 1961 Graßhoff was one of the founders of the volleyball club USC Münster. He then became German Champion in volleyball in 1965-72 with that club. He took part in the World Championships in 1966 and 1970, and the 1971 European Championships, eventually earning 110 international caps. In 1973-75 Graßhoff was coach of VBC Paderborn, but he later worked as a biology and sports teacher.
