Biography

Weightlifter Rolf Sennewald finished 11th at the 1960 Roma Olympics as a light-heavyweight. Sennewald won six East German national titles and participated in three World and European Championships, from 1961-63. Sennewald worked as a sports teacher. In 1965 he was the first weightlifting head coach for his home club ASK Vorwärts Leipzig. In the 1970s Sennewald moved to ASK Frankfurt / Oder as a coach, where he was also later club president. In 1974 he was the founder of the so-called Oderpokal for weightlifters.
