György Kőszegi had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1976 Olympics Flyweight class (237.5 kg); 2nd in the 1974 World Championships Flyweight class (230.0 kg); 2nd in the 1976 World Championships Flyweight class (237.5 kg); 2nd in the 1977 World Championships Flyweight class (235.0 kg); 2nd in the 1973 European Championships Flyweight class (217.5 kg); 2nd in the 1976 European Championships Flyweight class (235.0 kg); 2nd in the 1977 European Championships Flyweight class (235.0 kg); 2nd in the 1978 European Championships Flyweight class (237.5 kg). He set one flyweight snatch world record in 1974.
