Biography

Richard Rieder won the Swiss weightlifting championship title in the bantamweight class in 1945 and 1946. Selected as one of three Swiss weightlifting representatives at the 1948 Olympic Games in London alongside Fritz Mast and Roger Rubini, he finished in 22nd place in the featherweight weightlifting competition. In 1953, he once again captured a national title, this time in the lightweight class. Rieder lived in Riehen, Basel.
