Biography

Maurice Buffière played basketball at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, following in the steps of his older brother, André, who played for France at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics. The two brothers were legends in French basketball, and some consider them responsible for France becoming one of the top European nations in basketball. Maurice was described as “a life dedicated to basketball.” He coached on a voluntary basis in Vaud, and helped form FC Vaulx in 1972, which, after mergers, became the Vaulx Basket Club (VBC). Maurice Buffière and his wife ran shops in their hometown.
