Biography

Vernell “Bimbo” Coles played college hoops at Virginia Tech, and then was drafted in the 1990 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. He never played for Sacramento, as he was immediately traded to the Miami Heat. Coles played for 14 years in the NBA, mostly as a back-up point guard. He played until 1996 with the Heat, and then played for the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Boston Celtics, before being traded back to the Heat for his final season in 2003/04. During his NBA career Coles averaged 7.8 points/game and 3.9 assists/game. Coles later became the fitness director at Greenbrier Physical Therapy & Fitness in Lewisburg, West Virgina.
