Biography

Nick Adamson grew up in New Jersey and starting sailing when he was eight. His father was a member of the New York Yacht Club and raced boats for more than 25 years. Nick Adamson competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in Laser Class. He won the 1996 North American champs in Laser and competed at the 1994-96 World Championships, with a best finish of 17th in 1996.

Adamson graduated from Princeton and then spent two years teaching high school math in Asbury Park, New Jersey, before moving to Vermont, where he built ski homes. He then returned to Columbia to earn an MBA in finance and became an investment banker, at various firms, including Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers, and then Bankers Trust. He retired from this career to manage his own real estate portfolio.
