Otto Aust was a secretary at the Swedish consulate in Bremen, where he married his wife Johanna Meier in 1933. He died in 1943 in a small town just south of Bremen. At the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm Aust won bronze in the 6 metres class as a crew member of the yacht Kerstin together with the Sandberg brothers. They prevailed in the match race for third place against the Sass, also from Sweden.
