Born in Switzerland in 1941, Peter Erzberger would later represent Brazil in sailing at the Olympics. In 1980 Erzberger and Eduardo de Souza competed in the Star class at the Moskva Games, placing ninth overall. With almost 70 years of sailing experience, he was also a regular at the Star World Championships, representing both Brazil and Switzerland throughout his career. In Switzerland he founded the Gstaad Yacht Club, later serving as an honorary President of the organisation. His son Marc competed in windsurfing at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
