Biography

German sailors Torsten Haverland and Ronald Rensch sailed in the two-person dinghy (470) class at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, placing 12th. The competitions were held at Savannah, Georgia. In 1992, both earned their only German national title. Haverland later became vice-president of his home club Schweriner Yacht-Club and of the German Sailing Association. He was also executive manager of the Regional Sports Association of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
