Biography

West German sailor Michael Marcour partnered Joachim Griese in the two person keelboat (star) event at the 1984 Long Beach Olympic sailing competition. Despite being disqualified in the first regatta, the pair went on to win the silver medal behind the US duo.

Marcour won a further two silver medals at the 1983 World and European Championships. In 1985 Griese and Marcour and Outsider were part of the successful German team in the Admiral’s Cup. By profession, Marcour was a graduated architect. He also occasionally coached youth sailors.
