Will Martin competed in Finn Monotype sailing at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Martin was a member of the Carolina Yacht Club in Charleston, South Carolina. Martin competed at the 1993 and 1994 Finn Gold Cup, the equivalent of the World Championships in that class, finishing 11th in 1993.
Martin attended Charleston Day School, then Woodberry Forest prep school in Virginia, and Duke University. Martin worked as a real estate broker with Holcombe Fair & Lane, specializing in the sale and leasing of commercial property. He was also an avid hunter, a member of Middleton Hunting Club.
