Biography

Austrian sailor Hubert Porkert participated at the 1980 Moskva (Moscow) Olympics, when the sailing events were held in Tallinn, Estonia. He was a crew member of the multihull Tornado, partnering Hermann Kupfner, and they finished seventh. Domestically, both men sailed with Yachtclub Zell am See.

Porkert won his only Austrian national title in 1983. He trained as a cabinetmaker and later built sailing boats. He was also involved in building sail battens, surfing fins, rotor blades for model helicopters, short skis, and snowboards. He founded his own company called Inferno One Six Five at Zell am See.
