Biography

Ragnar Svensson studied at the Chalmers Technical School in Göteborg and the Royal Art Academy in Stockholm 1899-07. He subsequently worked as assistant to Hans Hedlund and Arvid Bjerke in Göteborg and eventually became Bjerke’s companion from 1911-22. In addition, Svensson taught drawing at the Slöjdföreningen School (Handicraft Association). From 1922 he practiced as an independent architect in Göteborg. Svensson designed a number of public buildings, mostly schools, and, as a member of the architectural group ARES, the Art Museum and Gallery Götaplatsen.
