Biography

Shanghai basketballer Jia Zhijun was the center for the Chinese team at the 1948 London Olympics. He was initially trained at the Yuzhong Military School in Longli, Guizhou and later served with the Joint Logistics Command. After coming to Taiwan with other players, forming the so-called “Seven Tigers”, Jia Zhijun served as coach of Taiwan’s national team that won the silver medal at the 1954 Asian Games. In the 1950s he was also involved in promoting women’s basketball. The last team that Jia Zhijun coached before he died of heart failure was a Police Flash Lights team.
