Biography

By age 18 Grete Jenny had already celebrated her greatest sporting success. At the 1948 London Olympics she ran the first leg of the 4x100m relay for Austria, which placed sixth, the best ever Olympic result by an Austrian sprint relay team. A member of Kapfenberger SV, she also competed at the 1954 European Championships in the 80 metre hurdles and the 200 metres, losing out in the first round in both events.

Jenny was a multiple Austrian champion, winning titles in the 100 metres (1949), 200 metres (1949, 1951, 1960), 4x100 relay (1949-50) and pentathlon (1953). Jenny married an Austrian sports official and after the end of her athletics career was very active in several sports such as alpine skiing and hiking.

Personal Best: 100 – 12.3 (1948).
