Biography

Hans Muchitsch was an Austrian decathlete who placed 17th at the 1960 Roma Olympics. He competed at the 1954 European Championship in the 110 metre hurdles, the long jump, and the 4x400 relay, and was 12th in the decathlon at the 1958 Europeans.

Muchitsch competed for the Klagenfurter Leichtathletik-Club and later became club president and then was named honorary president. Muchitsch won 27 Austrian titles in his career as follows: 4×100 relay (1960-61, 1963), 110 metres hurdles (1954, 1956-59, 1961), 400 metres hurdles (1956-60), long jump (1954, 1957-1961), and decathlon (1954, 1957-62). Muchitsch also set Austrian records in the long jump (7.37 – 1958, and 7.40 – 1959) and the decathlon in 1958 (6,601 on 1985 tables).
