Marie-Thérèse Renard

Marie-Thérèse Renard was born in Gent, the daughter of merchant Adolphe Renard, a native of Gembloux, Namur, and his wife, Marie Pulinckx. A member of the Atalante club in her hometown, Renard was the Belgian female champion in the 100 and 200 metre sprints in 1948, after finishing in the runner-up position in the previous year. Selected to the national athletics delegation for the 1948 Olympic Games in London, Renard competed in both the 100 and 200 metres events, but did not advance past the heats in either. In the following year, she won the national 100 metres title once again before retiring from competition.
