Biography

During the late 1920s to the late 1930s Jules Herremans was the best javelin thrower in Belgium, winning multiple titles and setting several national records. Herremans won his first Belgian javelin title in 1927 before going on to win five more (1928, 1931, 1933, 1935, 1937). He was also the runner-up in 1929, 1930, 1932, 1934, and 1936. He set his first national record in the event in 1927 when he threw 54.03 metres. He improved the record several more times before setting a mark of 61.76 metres in 1931, which stood until 1950. Herremans competed in the javelin at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics where he finished in 18th place with a best throw of 56.33 metres.
