Biography

Osvaldo Wenzel was a Chilean all-round track and field athlete who specialised in the javelin and decathlon. At the 1935 South American Championships Wenzel won gold in the decathlon along with silver in the javelin. His performances earned him a spot at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he finished 15th in the decathlon. After the Olympics he won more medals in the javelin at the South American Championships, with bronze in 1939, followed by gold in 1943.
