Biography

Carl Axel Holger Petersen was a Danish track and field athlete who represented AIK 95 in København. Petersen was a specialist in long-distance running races and won nine national titles across three different disciplines. In 1924 he won his first medal at the Danish championships with a bronze in the 5,000 metres. The following year he won his first gold medal, also in the 5,000 metres. He won two national titles in the 5,000 metres (1926–27), along with two titles in the 8km cross-country race (1926, 1928), and four titles in the 10,000 metres (1926–27, 1929–30). Petersen ran in the 5,000 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but was eliminated in the heats.
